Well Rooted

“But blessed is the woman who trusts in the LORD, whose confidence is in Him.  She will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream.  It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green.  It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.”    Jeremiah 17:7-8

The imagery of a fruitful, beautiful tree is what the Bible compares a woman to who is trusting in the LORD.  She is like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream.  It does not fear when heat comes.  Did you catch that?  The heat will come, the trials will come, and the wind will blow!  But guess what?  The tree is not worried about it because it has sent out its roots over time to the source of provision, to the source of strength and to the source of nutrition.

When we spend time in God’s Word daily, we have not separated ourselves from our source of nourishment.  When we are delighting in God’s Word, we are like a well rooted tree, having the strength for times of crisis and even will have the strength to share with others.

May I encourage you to spend time in God’s Word today?  When you do, you will be like that tree who sends out its roots by the stream and provides comfort through its “shade”.  You will have no fear when heat comes and you will not worry in a year of drought.  You will never fail to bear fruit for your family, your friends, your places of business and your communities!

“She shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever she does shall prosper.”  Psalm 1:3
