Walk With Faith

"Immediately Jesus made the disciples get into the boat and go on ahead of Him to the other side, while He dismissed the crowd. After He had dismissed them, He went up on a mountainside by Himself to pray. Later that night, He was there alone, and the boat was already a considerable distance from land, buffeted by the waves because the wind was against it.
Shortly before dawn Jesus went out to them, walking on the lake. When the disciples saw Him walking on the lake, they were terrifeid. "It's a ghost," they said, and cried out in fear.
But Jesus immediately said to them: "Take courage! It is I. Don't be afraid." Lord, if it's you," Peter replied, "tell me to come to you on the water."
     "Come," He said.
Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, "Lord, save me!"
Immediately Jesus reached out His hand and caught him. "You of little faith," He said, "Why did you doubt?"
And when they climbled into the boat, the wind died down. Then those who were in the boat worship Him, saying, "Truly you are the Son of God." Matthew 14:22-32

I love that Jesus immediately reached out His hand and saved Peter! What a great reminder of Jesus' love for us! My Bible commentary gives good encouragement: We may not walk on water, but we do walk through tough situations. If we focus on the waves of difficult circumstances around us without looking to Jesus for help, we too may despair and sink just like Peter did. To maintain our faith when situations are difficult, keep your eyes on Jesus and do not be distracted by the conditions surrounding us!

JESUS, thank you for your patience when our faith can be so small. Thank you for encouraging us to take steps of faith through uncharted waters. Help us to walk with faith and to trust You no matter what. In Your Name I pray - Amen.

  1. Beautiful, reminder, Jasmine, of the immediacy of God's answer to our pleas while we are in the midst of swirling seas intent on doing us harm. SO appropriate as Don and I leave for "uncharted waters" in seven days! Thank you for your prayers that I keep my eyes--and heart--focused on Jesus.
Thank you, sweet sister, for your prayers!

Blessings to you and your family,

    Love,
    RoseAnn

    1. Dear RoseAnn,

There are so many people who love you and Don and who are praying for you both. As you board the plane on Thursday, remember these words from Psalm 139:9, "If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there Your hand shall lead me and Your right hand shall hold me."

The Lord bless you and keep you. I can't wait to hear all about it when you both return.

      Love,

      Jasmine
