I was so blessed when the poem below was shared at the Bible study I attend. I now share it with you today in hopes that it blesses you as well!
“Life is but a
Weaving” (The Tapestry Poem)
By: Corrie ten Boom
“My life is but a
weaving
Between my God and
me.
I cannot choose the
colors
He weaveth steadily.
Oft’ times He weaveth
sorrow;
And I in foolish
pride
Forget He sees the
upper
And I the underside.
Not ‘til the loom is
silent
And the shuttles
cease to fly
Will God unroll the
canvas
And reveal the reason
why.
The dark threads are
as needful
In the weaver’s
skillful hand
As the threads of
gold and silver
In the pattern He has
planned
He knows, He loves,
He cares;
Nothing this truth can dim.
He gives the very
best to those
Who leave the choice
to Him.”
“As (our life) unfolds in real time, it’s like viewing the
backside of a tapestry. It appears to be nothing more than a jumble of thread –
tangled, frayed, occasionally knotted, and seemingly random. Nothing really
makes sense. It’s no wonder people lose heart, give up, and abandon their
commitments.
But things are not always what they seem.
It is only when you turn a tapestry over that you see the
art: the rich colors, the texture, and the patterns that can make a tapestry a
thing of astonishing beauty.
No thread of
experience – good or bad – is wasted. When it appears to be that way, we
just have to remind ourselves that we are simply looking at the backside of a
tapestry. And the One weaving it together, knows precisely what He is doing.”
